SCIENCE ORGANIZATION

Throughout the course of the semester, you will be keeping your work from the course.  I recommend a science notebook to facilitate studying for the final at the end of the semester, as well as making it easier to organize your packets upon the completion of a unit.  Please follow the format below and have your notebook available for inspection in class on _____________________________.

MATERIALS:

  1-1/2Ó or 2Ó 3-ring notebook (recommended)

  3 Dividers (or cardstock)

NOTEBOOK INSTRUCTIONS:

3 Dividers will be labeled as:

1.    HANDOUTS: Syllabus, Tips to Succeed, Schedule, Passes, Science Organization

2.    THIS UNIT

3.    OLD HW PACKETS

            THIS UNIT:

During a unit, file your notes, worksheets, homework, labs, etc., in this section.  It should be arranged in the order the assignments appear on the stamp sheet.

      OLD HW PACKETS:

At the end of the unit (approximately every two weeks) you will empty the contents of the sections in order to put together your unit packet.  Unit packets may be placed in the ÒOld HW PacketsÓ section of your notebook or kept at home in a file folder in chronological order.  There will be checks of the work throughout the semester.

Please note, at the end of the semester you will be submitting your Science Work with all of your Unit Packets for the current semester for a grade.

Procedures for turning in your Unit Homework stamp sheets:

1.    Your HW stamp sheet will be due the day of the exam.

2.    Reward yourself points where earned (through stamps or graded work).

3.    Deductions will occur for the following (deductions range from 5-10 points):

a.    Error in calculating points (either in your favor or not in your favor; please ADD points correctly).
